Gibson Centre for Community, Art and Culture63 Tupper Street West Alliston, Ontario
http://www.gibsoncentre.com/
The official launch of the Community Threads tapestries project will also be taking place during this reception. Line is collaborating with the Nottawasaga Handweavers and Spinners in creating 12 tapestries with the assistance of the residents of New Tecumseth, which includes Beeton, Alliston and Tottenham. In two years, when the tapestries are completed, an exhibition will occur at the Gibson Centre in October 2013 afterwhich they will be hung in various public locations in the New Tecumseth area. A self guided tapestry tour will be produced so that all can tour the area and view the tapestries in the coming years. Community Threads was funded in part by the Ontario Arts Council as well as the Gibson Centre, and many members in the community.
